Sports Illustrated is reporting on the rumors section of their website that the Cowboys are interested in Raven’s linebacker Ray Lewis, who is in the last year of his deal with Baltimore.
When I think of perfect matches, I can think of no better ones than Dallas and Ray Lewis. Is it cause I think he’ll fit in well with the Dallas defensive scheme and help put them back in the playoffs next year?
Nope!
For me, as a Giants’ fan, it all comes down to hatred. I hate the Dallas Cowboys. If the Cylons from Battlestar Galactica played the ‘Boys with the very future of our planet dependent on the outcome of the game. I’d probably root for the Cylons much as I love this green/blue ball we all make our home on. So you see, I have a completely irrational deep hatred for the Cowboys.
And what team is it that I second most disdain in the NFL? Glad you asked.
It’s the Ravens. Is it cause they kicked Big Blue Butt in that Super Bowl a few years back?
Well, that’s not my favorite memory, but no I’m over that.
The reason I dislike the Ravens so much is for one reason and one reason only. Two words, one man. Ray Lewis.
What’s my problem with Ray Lewis? Just this, it seems to me that the nation and our media has completely blocked out Lewis’ involvement a few years ago in a homicide. Yes, he went through the system and yes he, as a result, has the right to play for the NFL.
It doesn’t mean I have to like or root for him though. Fairly or not, I can’t shake the thought that Ray Lewis beat a rap he richly deserved. Guess that’s between him and the hereafter to sort out. But in the meantime, I’ll never be able to root for Baltimore until Lewis is no longer a part of the franchise.
If Lewis ends up in Dallas that would be great for me as I don’t believe that at his age and with the current Dallas roster that Ray Lewis will do much to take the ‘Boys to the next level. So, I could not only have the convenience of having my two least favorite people/teams to root for all as part of one organization. But, I could take pleasure in watching a declining Lewis and the Cowboys fail together.
That! Would be truly fun to watch!
