Enough Talking! Two More Debates!

Like two old lovers who just can’t quit each other no matter how wrong they are together, Hillary and Barack are at it again.  America’s favorite duet team will soon be hitting the stage and singing the same old crowdpleasers.
Heard on the way home tonight that there may be two more debates between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.  Why?  What exactly are we supposed to find out that we don’t already know?  Normally, I love debates but really what are we searching for?  Is it the next President or best debater?  We might as well throw in a swimsuit competition while we’re at it!

Now that I mention it, let these images soak in their for awhile:

If you’re Barack Obama why would you ever agree to debating Hillary Clinton again?  You’ve proven you can hold you’re own.  You’ve got a basically insurmountable delegate lead and you’ve won most of the primaries & caucuses.  More debates only means more risk to the Obama campaign.

I guess the Obama people are agreeing to move forward with it because they’re worried about the backlash if they don’t agree to more debates given how close the race is.  My gut tells me the risk is bigger of a big debate gaffe than people turning on Barack Obama for refusing yet two more debates.

If I were advising Senator Obama (and clearly he’s not asking my opinion YET!), I’d tell him to skip the debates.  Then, I’d go to the campaign’s key spinmiesters and come up with some kind of story about why we’d said no.  I think it would probably be something along the lines of there already being 20 debates and now being busy taking our campaign directly to the people so we can hear what they want/expect from us when we win the White House.

Not bad spinning?  Right?  And that’s just off the top of my head!  Imagine what someone whose expertise is spin and with some time to think up a strategy would come up with.  The Obama campaign could completely avoid the risk more debates against Senator Clinton poses.  A risk that’s compounded by the fact that after the SNL skits the moderators will be lined up to play gotcha with Obama just to prove they’re not biased against him.

It just keeps getting more interesting… And much better than SNL.
