Why Eliot Spitzer Didn’t Resign!

It’s late so here’s just a quick PS on my previous Spitzer-centric post:

My understanding is that what Spitzer may be charged with, transporting a prostitute over state lines, could carry up to five years in prison.  This would be especially true if he comes up against a prosecutor as aggressive and ambitious as the Governor was during his lawyering days.

So, if the Governor faces a possible jail term, the reason he didn’t resign yet is because he’s waiting on assurances that IF he resigns, he won’t face serious jail time.

This a sad and shocking fall.  Even Jim McGreevey lasted over two years before impending federal corruption charges prompted his coming to terms with his true sexual identity.
