So, it turns out that the White House has lost all Dick Cheney’s email from the week when the first noise about the leak of a CIA officer’s identity broke. Cheney’s email had been subpoenaed in relation to the leak probe, but what do you know? The White House can’t find it. Coincidence or something more? You decide.
For anyone leaning toward coincidence, I’d love you to be on any jury trying me for anything either now or in the future. Clearly, you guys are glass have full kind of people who see the best in everyone. And good for you.
For the rest of us, it’s quite obvious that the email in question wasn’t so much lost as hidden. Really well. But, just wait. Once Bush is safely out of office, it’ll turn up.
Cheney will escape any consequences. But, he will take credit for a great new phrase in the American lexicon of bull#hit, “the government lost my email”. This phrase is destined to join such other proud phrases that help us avoid responsibility such as:
“The dog ate my homework”
“The check is in the mail”
“I’ll keep you in mind”
and of course…
“Compassionate Conservative”
